A Hull based green business has embraced social media to raise £231 for a national allergy charity.
The Bio-D Company, manufacturers of environmentally friendly cleaning products, ran a facebook promotion to encourage people to like its page in return for a £1 donation to the Allergy UK Nurses Appeal and was delighted to raise £231 in only two weeks.
Of the initiative, Bio-D’s Sales and Marketing Director Sara Holtby said; “In celebration of gaining the Allergy Friendly Product Award for our unfragranced laundry range and with a desire to contribute to the great work that Allergy UK does, we chose Allergy UK Nurses Appeal as our charity of the year and we are proud to support the tireless work that they do to help people with allergies.”
Rebecca Carey, Fundraising Manager at Allergy UK says “We are thrilled to have the support of Bio-D who are committed to supporting our Nurses Appeal. The money they have raised will make a huge difference to the services we are able to offer allergy and intolerance sufferers across the UK”.
In addition to the donation, Bio-D directors chose one of the new ‘likers’ at random to win £50 worth of Bio-D household cleaning and laundry products. This prize was won by Rebecca Ducker from York.
